Agrippa Varus

gallery 1 Born: 2258, Sokai, Asura

Agrippa Varus was raised in a well respected family in the Asurian capital of Sokai. His father Argo Varus, served as a consul and the main liaison between Asura and other sentient worlds. Due to his exposure to other species from a young age, Agrippa has an open mind and is much less prejudiced than the average Asurian citizen. However, combat skills were also a major focus of his early education. His mother, Siena Varus, a retired Paladin who fought during the early years of the First Contact War, instilled in him the skills and virtues of a warrior. Agrippa was eager to learn and by the time he reached early adulthood, he was well known for his martial arts skills and rivalled experienced warriors more than twice his age. While serving in the Asurian military, through hard work and dedication, he eventually progressed to the rank of Sentinel, in command of a loyal squad of troops. Agrippa led a seemingly perfect life and had a prosperous future ahead of him.
Though, his good fortune was not to last. Northazul, the Sovereign of Asura, had uncovered a secret plot set forth by Agrippa’s father (among others) to form an underground resistance movement known as Horizon. His family and friends were to be executed for their treasonous actions. Agrippa, with his father’s final words of guidance, managed to escape with his life and a new ally at his side, a Varelien named Eve Arlia. Eve explained Horizon’s purpose and why such an organization was necessary due to the devastating costs of the war. Having seen first hand the problems that Northazul’s tyrannical reign had brought to his home world, Agrippa was not hard to convince. To this day he continues to serve Horizon as their top Agent, specializing in assassination of the most dangerous and destructive individuals in the galaxy.

Eve Arlia

gallery 1 Born: 2237, Ilyrian City, Varel

Eve Arlia was born into high society on planet Varel, destined to follow in the footsteps of the Oracle and lead the Order of the Lost (a group of highly skilled Varelien empaths who specialize in searching for life on distant worlds). At a young age, Eve demonstrated exceptional empathic abilities, including limited physic capabilities, which is considered extremely rare among the Varelien species. Over the years, Eve began to feel frustrated by the planet’s insular lifestyle and her curious nature drove her to explore the other populated areas of the Milky Way.
Through her travels she realized how ignorant her people were to the plight of the other sentient species, as well as the Vareliens’ overall elitist nature. Using her position of power, Eve pleaded with the Oracle as well as the planet’s elected representatives to put an end to their closed off nature and intervene to help end the devastating war between Earth and Asura. In the end, she was ignored, but her father, Vox Arlia, a citizen representative and high ranking member of Varlien society, put her in touch with an old friend of his, an Asurian by the name of Argo Varus. He revealed to Eve that for the last few decades, he and Argo had been working together in secret to form a resistance against the war, which they called Horizon. Vox continues to keep contact with his daughter and secretly funds Horizon’s various exploits. Due to his long standing influence and reputation on Varel he is also able to use his connections to provide the group with advanced technology and weaponry. Eve still leads Horizon to this day, guiding their actions as one of the members of its council.

Grey O’Shea

gallery 1 Born: 2280, Dublin, Ireland, Earth

Grey O’Shea is a sniper and infiltration specialist. He is a natural leader and always puts himself in harm’s way to protect others (sometimes to his detriment). He was born in Dublin, Ireland into a relatively affluent family, but eventually pulled away from them due to his father’s constant need to control him and his future. Eventually his family was relocated from Earth to Mercury, which made Grey feel even more suffocated than ever. Immediately following his 18th birthday, in a bold act of defiance against his father’s wishes, Grey enlisted in the UEC Marine Corps as an infantry soldier. This caused an irreparable rift between them and the two have not spoken since.
Once in the military, Grey’s friendly yet confident demeanour made him quite popular among his peers and he quickly impressed his commanders with his marksmanship skills. After only a couple years he was made a sniper, serving in Bravo Company of First Recon as one of their top marksmen.

Alexis Hawke

gallery 1 Born: 2282, Titan Colony T-166

Formerly a victim of human trafficking under the Asurian extremist group, the Shadow Cabal, Alexis Hawke was forced to rebuild her life at a young age. At 19 years old, after spending years in the foster care system, she managed to secure her place in the UEC officer entry program and began her training to become a deep space fighter pilot. After completing flight school, Alexis spent the next several years stationed on the UEC space station Terra, patrolling the solar system for alien threats alongside flight engineer, Rick MacFarlance. Alexis continues to grapple with the demons of her past, but her determination and optimistic outlook continue to carry her through any obstacle life throws at her.

Rick MacFarlane

gallery 1 Born: 2278, New York, USA, Earth

Rick MacFarlane was raised on Earth in a military family. At 16, he learned that his father, a sergeant in the United Earth Coalition, had been killed in action. The pension that his family received was pitiful and Rick was forced to take a job as a vehicle technician at a local garage to help keep food on the table. It was during that time that he met his future wife, Rachel. After a few years Rachel discovered she was pregnant; hoping to give his family a chance at a decent life, he enlisted as an officer in the UEC. At age 23, Rick was offered a position as a Flight Engineer, serving alongside fighter pilot and close friend, Alexis Hawke.

Hiroko Kaneda

gallery 1 Born: 2276, Kyoto, Japan, Earth

Like many born into a military family, Hiroko spent much of her childhood abroad. Her father, Shiro Kaneda was a captain in the UEC navy and was beloved by his subordinates, Hiroko followed in his footsteps and enlisted in the UEC as soon as she was able. She was accepted as a Special Operations soldier and after rigorous training, was sent on various assignments ranging from direct combat to surveillance missions. After several years of service, Hiroko became quite disillusioned with the UEC and after a fateful mission with her father to an alien-integration colony, the two of them saw just how destructive Earth’s legacy had been to the other sentient life in the galaxy. After being ordered to eliminate the innocent colonists (as it was deemed they were a waste of funds and resources), Hiroko and her father turned their backs on the UEC. With the help of the alien workers, they were able to contact an anti-war resistance movement known as Horizon. Hiroko and Shiro now serve Horizon and after many years with the resistance group, Hiroko now acts as an intelligence specialist, gathering information on potential targets that are deemed a threat to the galaxy.

Jaide Ta’lir

gallery 1 Born: 2230, Colony C523-7, Crita VII

As with many Shintari, Jaide Ta’lir was born on an alien-integration colony and was forced into hard labour as soon as she was physically capable. Over the next several decades, Jaide tried her best to accept her difficult life and even fell in love with another one of the Shintari workers. Together they had four children and despite their oppression, they tried to make the most out of their circumstances. Unfortunately, due to the lack of protection, their work camp was eventually hit by raiders, which caused the deaths of the UEC personnel along with several of the workers on the colony. Jaide managed to escape, but tragically lost three of her children along with her life companion. She and her child quickly fled to the outer colonies, where she learned the skills of a doctor, aiding former internment camp workers and other impoverished colonists. Eventually Jaide learned of the existence of a resistance movement known as Horizon, a group determined to end the First Contact War and provide aid to its victims. Desperate to give her remaining child a better life, Jaide was able to make contact with Horizon and now serves as one of their medical officers.
