Two words: there pilots. Still, if anyone is going to design any millatary uniform, please put in chamillon cammo, or at least don’t put in anything flashy.

Those lights could come in handy from time to time, and I have a hunch it isn’t too hard to turn them off either.

Good point, but lighted collar tips wouldn’t provide much. light, and serve to highlight the pilot when they are escapin, and most survival kits carry lights. Ships and other spacecraft also would have lights, and if the lights are knocked out, no light would be the least of your problems.
