Chapter: 3-Chapter Three
  • Ian

Why did Alex back off and start acting all vulnerable? Seems like odd behaviour after what looks like an attempted escape from (presumed) Azatoth imprisonment, especially since Agrippa didn’t put up any show of force. I would have expected either more violence or more running…

  • Slade

Heheh, Agrippa grumbling around while holding his hand. That’s somehow very amusing. Poor Alex, memories are no doubt a bit vicious.

  • Marxista

What I like about Alex is that she isn’t like most Bush’s puppets (brainwashed humans), she speak their language and suffered as a slave to Agrippa’s species.
P.S- I am talking like Gabriel Tosh from Starcraft 2, MONNN!

  • Ilmari

At least Alexis has the presence of mind not to pursue her assault on poor ol’ Agrippa any further. To answer Ian’s comment, I’m guessing the fact that since Agrippa did not respond to violance with violance is what’s put Alex off (or at least gave her the impression that this particular Azxatoth is not an enemy). He isn’t even angry, just slightly peeved. Real cool head, that one.

P.S. @ Marxista: From one socialist to another, comrade, it usually annoys people if you work political commentary into every comment you post. I understand your motivation, but you’ll just end up dissuading people from supporting the left.

  • Jamming

    You mean like:
“Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy.”
“A liberal is a man with both feet planted firmly in the air.”
    – Winston Churchill the Great (half) American Statesman. (mother was American)

  • Marxista

I won’t say political commentary again! It made my dad upset when I compare sci fi to political events (since recent movies (Avatar, District 9 and Monsters) have tones in today’s events!) I wiil change my name from Marxista to The Tosh.

  • The Tosh

    It is done!

  • http://www.hard-graft.net prestwick

Looks like poor Lex has some emotional baggage on her person!

  • Another Leftist.

@Jamming: Winston Churchill – though a great wartime leader – was a bitter, decrepit relic of the nineteen century. It’s a shame he never put his prodigious speaking talents to better use. I do like his commentary on liberals though – ironic since liberalism is the furthest right mainstream politics goes in europe now!

  • Ark

I really like the way you have done Alex’s face in the first panel. Fear and confusion all in one!

  • Terzle

I reread the comic so I could enjoy the new prologue in context.
It is great … and finally picked up on the blue theme too … sometimes I can be a bit slow :s

I just love how this is going :)

  • Alvin

Hmm seems that Agrippa recognizes that tattoo on her arm. I’m guessing it’s a symbol that the Cabal use to mark their slaves or something. I guess that’s why Agrippa tries to calm her down after he sees it.

  • http://aimlessdevelopment.com Ian

Okay, her reaction makes a bit more sense now that I’ve read the new prologue. Apparently, the Azatoth aren’t known for taking prisoners, so she must have just clued in on that, along with Agrippa’s (relatively) non-hostile demeanor.

  • Eptha

@ those political guys up there: if you want to talk politics, go to a political blog. This is a web comic. It is sometimes used for entertainment. And thus far, all I’ve seen of politics in this very Sci-Fi web comic is Bastardism shown by that one dude a few strips back…you know, the guy that shot the other guy for no apparent reason other than to be a bastard? (Haha! Not picking on the story there, I know it’s fixed…just making a point). Socialist or left wing hypocrat, I and probably the rest of the readers, could give a crap. We’re here to be entertained by a web comic, not political arguments.

Great strip, by the way! And holy bolognia! I didn’t know there was a new prologue! *rushes off to read*

  • Awesome

    How often does this update?

  • admin

    Every Wednesday and Friday.

  • wr4ith0

dude, this is topnotch…. keep to the update schedule and I can’t see this not becoming one of the most respected webcomics out there. (double negative :) yeah)

  • Eptha

Double negatives are perfectly acceptable in today’s society…Unless you’re British, I think (no offense intended). In your case, the not after can’t would be an adverb enhancing the can’t or “cannot”. Double negs are really a case sensitive subject. A double negative really just cancels itself out…kind of like in math when you multiply a negative by a negative.

  • Eptha

    Jeebus I’m a nerd!

  • Dyfed Darkly

I also think he didn’t go off the handle because apparently he noticed that mark on her arm. Ya know… the one the looks suspiciously like the Azatoth tribal marking? I mean I might be captain obvious here, but it is probably a slave tattoo and he noticed it, and that would explain the change is his demeanor towards her.

  • Miw-Sher

This is good. :) I was a bit suspicious at first htat it might turn out all cliche and stuff. But it’s actually very enjoyable and entertaining.

I’m looking forward to seeing what happened to Lexi when she was taken prisoner. :)

  • An OwlBear

ouch that scalpal has got to hurt. but yeah i think Alex might have PTSD.

  • Mike

@Ian: It’s trama. She was a slave to them so when he didn’t trigger her military `fight` training she reverted to the scared little salve-girl.

Kinda reminds me of how Worf always got the crap beat out of him.
