Chapter: 5-Chapter Five
  • balthazar

Distraction and cover, all rolled into one neat little package! Nice work Rick.

  • Ian

How far have the mercenary’s leader and Alex gotten since Rick started playing with chemical weaponry? Are they (and the female Azatoth) still on-scene, or do they have some catching up to do?

  • selvy

=S I dunno we have 3 main characters in one area I think they’ll be fine, nothing some good badassery wont fix.

  • Matthew

    Snatch Weapon
    Blind-Fight
    Improved Sneak Attack

On the last panel I couldn’t really see the movement, only the charming “Krakk” gave away that our little green friend became past tense.
(Or the Krakk was something else, not his neck?)

Agree with previous; he’d have to twist the guy’s head at least past 90 degrees of center to break his neck, assuming the species has the same vulnerability as humans in that regard. In any case, it doesn’t look right to a human reader.

On a less reflective note, HELL YEAH! XD

  • AKADivya

I don’t see the right head turning angle for a neck breaking KRAKK, but I could see that lizard guy having a broken jaw. The KRAKK could be from his jaw breaking. Which wouldn’t deadly right now, but it could certainly kill him in the long term. I know I wouldn’t be going very far with a broken jaw, nor could I call for help.

  • Lazy Jesus

i think your right i think grey was breaking his jaw

  • Lazy Jesus

but i could be wrong the expression in the lizards eyes looks pretty vacant and dead to me

  • http://www.terra-comic.com Holly

It’s supposed to be his neck, he’s pushing it forward (against his forearm) past it’s breaking point, but I guess I didn’t make that clear enough, sorry for any confusion.

  • Matthew

Breaking his jaw would be stupid.

@Holly The body-head angle is quite unnatural, so I guess it makes sense. I never heard of this technique, but in Terra’s ‘verse it could work… and, well, it worked:-P.

  • http://www.terra-comic.com Holly

I altered the angle of the alien’s head to show more of a break.

This is what I was trying to go for: http://www.the-isb.com/images/Batman402a.jpg (I didn’t use that for reference btw, just fond it on google image search a few minutes ago) but I guess it didn’t quite turn out the way I hoped.

  • Lazy Jesus

its still really well done Holly

  • Kael

Nice work Holly! I couldn’t help but analyse the break point in the neck, a diagonal thrust pulling the spinal cord in the neck apart from the rear left corner. If lizard man physiology is similar to our own that is. The angle you put it on is perfect, the Bat man comparison you linked is just an over exaggeration. It doesn’t REALLY take that much to break a neck.

  • Kael

Sorry, didn’t include this little piece of information. The motion is an up and out motion. Pulling the neck over the forearm while twisting slightly. Doesn’t require a 90 degree pull if you do it right, involving less necessary force. The joints are easier to pull out and apart than to snap into each other on a bend. A Krak can still be heard from the release of the bones in the spinal column, though a little more like a thud sound you get the point.

Hey, I am a new reader that found this site through a bunch of random links. It’s pretty wicked. One question though, is this comic based off of Mass Effect? Never played the game, it just seems that way.

  • http://www.terra-comic.com Holly

@Joel: It’s definitely not based on Mass Effect, that would be a fan comic… where as this is (supposed to be) original content. I guess there would be similarities, but that’s mostly due to the genre. At any rate, it certainty wasn’t my intention.

  • Gillsing

I haven’t played Mass Effect either, but I’ve read that it covers pretty much every space opera/sci-fi trope there is. So I’m guessing that it’s Mass Effect that resembles everything else, not the other way around. 😉

  • Opiboble

Just started reading and I love it! Keep up the great work!

  • Konig Wolf

Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 are definitely worth a play. The Story isn’t similar to Terra at all though.

  • http://www.terra-comic.com Holly

I’ve played both multiple times, looking forward to the third one, it’s looking awesome. :)

  • John

This comic is awesome. Congratulations. I hope this is earning you some $$$$ for all the creative effort this must require.

  • Matthew

@Kael Speaking from experience? Hope you live far from me:-D.

  • Marie

This comic is awesome. Just a quick word about the breaking of the neck comments. The character is an alien, who’s to say that he even has a spinal cord and if he did why would it be the same as a humans? The breaking point could be at a different location. Great job Holly!
