Let her guard down. Tsk tsk

  • kaween

Maybe those shields work analogue to those in “Dune”. Fast travelling bodies (bullets, fast projectiles) are deflected, slow moving ones (knife) can pass. It would fit his training I think. There’s a look of shock and bewilderment there, and I wonder if Grey refrained from _twisting_ the knife maximizing internal damage and rappid bleed-out (if their anatomy is at least somewhat comparable : they use hemoglobine, that’s for sure …) and he still plans not just to survive but to extract info.

  • Argaz

She who gloats first dies first

  • Ian

Yep, too dumb to live. Either she’s about to beat a hasty retreat, or she’s going to go and underestimate Gray AGAIN.

Assuming it’s the latter, Gray, you kill her and TAKE her fancy shields and gain bullet invulnerability, while still having the good sense to USE A GUN instead of an archaic bladed weapon “just because you can”.

  • Pegasus

    Ha! Now they’re even. =D

Now, the question is…do those those shields defend against only energy weapons, or projectile weapons, too? ’cause if it’s only energy weapons, the humans should probably be getting some of their “old fashioned” machine guns out. 😛

  • spas

i don’t want her to die or to retreat, but to be taken prisoner by grey and agrippa – hahahaha! multiple azatoth badass chicks hating on humans AND on each other – fun!

  • Matti

And then he gets up and throws the knife!

  • Korbel

-Pegasus, thats assuming he wasn’t using a projectile weapon in the first place. And -Matti, only an idiot throws away his only working weapon unless he has to.

  • Vuther

To be fair, some knives are meant to be thrown. Probably not the one he’s holding though.

  • Talvarn

She dropped a sword! Grab it Gray!!!

  • Jamming

Ever get kidney-punched? Kidney-knifed is worse.

The sword is nice but if he is not skilled in its use that would be worse. Use what you are skilled with over something unfamiliar.

  • zakalwe

@Pegasus : Our president jacob Zuma, and Youth league press Julias malema, would like you very much for your getting your machine gun. lol.

@Jamming : I was to say exactly that, the guy is skilled in blades, and it has to be remembered Agrippa had Shadow Cabbal training and surely transfered it to the duded more so now that he is to fight blade and shield users, plus blades are surely a given in military – look at his target. I take it he knew beforehand that the gun will not work – thus misled her of his abilities and knowledge- and she will want to come in where he will catch her offguard- yes you sacrifice to get a kill in blades work. What I do not know then if the shields work from behind, or when you are not thinking about them – like activating on their own or else why would Agripa train him in using the gun if again riffle immunes?

  • spas

pegasus’ comment regarding ‘old-fashioned’ weapons getting through energy shields reminds me of SG-1 getting through Go’a’uld shields with hand-thrown knives. who is jacob zuma?

  • Sleel

Blah, blah blah. Less talk and more killing her already. Just stab her in the kidney, stop flapping your gums you dumbass.

  • Korbel

-Spas, that was my first thought too.
-Vuther, You are right, and military personnel are trained to throw their combat knives accurately, but its still not something they’re willing to do unless they have either A no other choice and can guarantee putting the target out of commission or B a back up weapon. I dont know if he has either.

  • Talvarn

I have a passing familiarity with edged weapons. Some are better with short blades, others long. The sword she dropped looks to be wakizashi size (somewhere between one to two shaku – a shaku being 1/3 of a meter). Most short blade masters would be comfortable with that. So…if he picks it up, then he will be dual wielding, which presumably Agrippa has trained him in. I’d call that a win win. But then again, opinions vary.

  • zakalwe

    @Talvarn,
But he would be at disadvantage coz she uses blades fulltime and had extensive experience with them. The alien seem naturally stronger and long lived than humans so age does not give him an advantage.
Chatching her when defenses are down is an option though :-p
Trow your kknife to someone who will pick in on air or dodge it? Sorry, surprise attack is my bet given the situation, like my training says.
