Nice to scene change. Solis was getting a bit oppressive 😉
So they went girl’s team and boy’s team eh?

  • Sleel

And let the pew pew begin. Already their plans fall apart. Nice to see. Let’s hope they keep falling apart. Would like to see Mr Kill Them All arrive to his base full of “ex parrots”.

    Now, here’s hoping for some of that stabby stabby, twist I was hoping for too. >:}

  • Jamming

Love the second shot, have no sympathy for these guys. 😀

  • Shadow

ok, not to be nitpicky… but… if the blue guy who likes to much on brains turns around ‘towards’ the guy who got ‘cupited’, how’d he get shot in the back of the head instead of the front?……. Just something i noticed… dont lynch me! 😯

  • Jamming

He completed a full body turn to the initial snipee’.

BTW…..I gots a new rope! (I’m just dying to use.) 😉

  • Eonknight

    Patched-up Catella and injured Grey rematch… 😀

  • http://www.terra-comic.com Holly

That’s what I was going for, he was turning to investigate the dead body of his companion, so he would be scanning around looking for the sniper. The second shot would’ve been a few seconds after the first, not immediately. Hopefully that’s clear, if not, I guess I could’ve added another panel. :)

  • http://www.terra-comic.com Holly

They assume Lex and Rei will have an easier time with retrieving the ship. I guess we’ll see if they’re right 😉

  • Shadow

oh its clear what you intended Holly :)

Was just a bit odd to me. It looked like the first guy was ‘behind’ the second and the shot looked like it came from the right, so when the blue guy turned ‘towards’ the camera (so to speek) just looked a bit odd he got shot in the ‘back’ :)

  • Korbel

That blue guy must have had fast reflexes to turn that quickly, unless he was taking his time with the second shot. He could have tracked over and fired in only a couple seconds, and this guy has to hear the shot, recognize it for what it is AND spin around overcoming his surprise in that time. Very impressive.

  • http://www.terra-comic.com Holly

I guess I didn’t realize it was such a big deal. I could re-draw it if it really mucks up the flow of the comic for some people, but I’ll have to find the time.

  • NovaCatt

    Hiya Peeps,
@Holly.. I reckon you should leave it the way you’ve drawn it.
He is after all, an alien, while he may look humanoid, everyone seems to forget that he’s not human but rather an alien species, so naturally he’s going to have different reflexes/reaction times to us mere humans…

I personally, have accepted the fact he’s not human & as such will have different reflexes/reaction times/etc to us… then again, 30 odd years of reading Sci-Fi/Fantasy will do that to a person… 😆

All in all, I must say this is one fanbloodytastic comic you’ve got going here, Holly… 😉

    Cheers & Thranx

  • Eonknight

I have to agree that this page works well as is for me…
… and congrats on your engagement! 😀

  • http://snipergirl0907.deviantart.com/ SniperGirl0907

Drew proposed?!?!?! 😯 SQUEEEEEEEEE!!! XD OMG Congrats! I’m so happy for you! Both of you! 😀

Oh, & kudos on the page! 😀 That some sweet sniping right there 8)

  • Gavin McStine

Ok to clear things up, 1st shot is fine, the bullet comes from the left of the door. The blue guy is looking away from the door, to the right of the door. so for the bullet to exit the front of his head.

A it would require another shooter
B that he was shot but his body was in movement and was turning. This isnt posible since the 1st bullet landed and he was already turned around.

But what doesnt make sence is that in the 2nd cell he is turned around to face the direction of the sniper so the bullet should be entering the front of hit head, not exiting it.

To fix this it would have him not turning around in the 2nd cell or switch the second and third cell swaped and have him shot first then falling in the third cell.

On another note 46 meter distance it quite poor for a sniper since an AK-47 was made to be used 300-400 meters and a sniper shooting wouldnt be done at this range unless the sniper was set in positon first and these two guys came along after. 42 meters is roughly 2 tractor trailors runing down the highway.

  • Korbel

No, no, leave it! They’re aliens so who knows how good their reflexes are? I was assuming human levels, but aliens can react however fast you want them to!

  • Obakeinu

Foo. Quit being so nit-picky… let’s just say that the second mook died trying to run away.

    A vain effort against a first-rate sniper.

  • http://slamlander.caselle-vpn.net Slamlander

IMHO, I think it is fine the way it is.
    1. That’s not an AK47. It almost looks like a Barret 50 but it ain’t one of them either.
    2. Where did you get the 46m distance number?
    3. 1 meter is exactly 39 inches or just barely longer than a yard. that makes 46m*3~=46 yards = 138 feet . Swaping meters into yards makes a fairly close first order approximation.

  • http://slamlander.caselle-vpn.net Slamlander

    Metric approximation:
I’ve been in Europe almost 10 years now and I still think in inches/feet/yards and convert to metric from there. I’ve developed a few approximations that help me much.
    Approximation: 1 mile = 5280 feet = 1760 yards ~= 1.7 km
    Official value: 1 mile = 1.6 km … close enough fer gov’ment work 😉
    1 inch = 2.5 cm; 10 inches = 25 cm;
    1 inch = 25 mm;
    A 105mm Howitzer fires a 4 inch round, roughly.
    A 5 inch gun is 5*25= 125mm.
    A 25mm chain gun fires a 1 inch round
An M-16 is nominally good for 600 m ~= 600 yards downrange, meters or yards won’t make meaningful difference to the target.
    A Barret 50 fires a 12.5 mm round, ~= 50 cal = half an inch.
The closest target at a pistol range is 50 yards ~= 50 meters. Typical rifle range targets are a either 100 yards or 250 yards. Snipers usually work at 500 yards ~= half a km!

    I hope that helps y’all.

BTW. I congratulate both of you. Planning to have kids soon? 😉
I taught my daughter that as well. Live together first and if you can still stand each other after a year then you might consider getting married but get married before you start breeding. She lives in Castro Valley California. I wish you both the best and am now expecting a hiatus or 3 in the next few years 😉

  • sinesofinsanity

If the Azatoth, particularly Solus, so anti-humans, why do they have humans working for them? Why would anyone working for Solus would bother to talk to a human. Much less hire human mercenaries. Wouldn’t they be more likely to “kill on sight any of these unsightly lesser beings”? Or are the humans working for Solus captured slaves?

  • sinesofinsanity

I got the idea he turned again between panels. Probably to run away.

  • Drew

They are so far away from Earths controlled areas that anything is fair game, there are a lot of races in the areas not controlled by Asura or Earth. Malik and his crew are a mercenary group hired by Caleb/Catella. Solus does not work in close proximity with humans but some of his subordinates will as they work with the merc groups that they hire to do some dirty work.

Solus also does not necessarily want to eradicate all humans, he just believes they expand to fast and ruin everything they touch, this will be explained in more detail later on. I don’t want to spoil to much. lol

  • Gavin McStine

I know its not an ak47, i was comparing a sniper, he is a sniper and that is a sniper scope with 46.2m in the scope as beeing too close.

Its like you have a sniper rifle and someone has a ak47 is coming at you, do you
A take him out at range
B wait till hes more then within range to kill him.

  • http://www.terra-comic.com Holly

Just a quick thank you to everyone for the engagement wishes! We are very excited 😀

  • sinesofinsanity

He’s an alien. There’s no telling how fast his reflexes could be. (I’m going with faster than human, considering he seems to have some lizard physiology, and they’re known for very quick, jerky movements)

  • sinesofinsanity

Exactly! I honestly didn’t think there was anything wrong with this until I read the comments (still don’t). I loved it for making it look like he was about to run away (cowardly fool! bwahahaha!). Also, his back was always toward the sniper, he’d only turned his head in the previous panel, so he merely turned it back to get shot.

  • sinesofinsanity

    1) It’s a futuristic weapon that does not have to have the same limitations or specs as an existing weapon
2)Maybe this was the only building with a clear view. We haven’t seen a full view of this part of the city yet, but from what we have seen of the city, it’s a mishmash of tall tightly packed buildings
3)Maybe they wanted to be close enough that after the bad guys are down they can run in as quickly as possible. They don’t have their ship at the moment
4)When the first bullet landed only his head was turned around. His body was still in the correct position to later be shot in the back. Turning one’s head doesn’t take very long even for a relatively slow-reflexed human
    5) When the first bullet landed he wasn’t turned enough to be shot in the forehead from the direction the sniper bullets were coming from anyway. If somehow both bullets were fired as quickly as you seem to think, he’d have been shot in the side of the head, just above his ear canal. (or slightly forward of that, between the ear and the eye)
